Paper jams are commonly caused by the following factors:
1) Dirty printer rollers
Solution: Have a professional clean your printer rollers on a regular basis, or use a lint-free cloth and water.
2) Overfilled paper trays
Solution: To avoid overfilling your paper trays, check and stick to the maximum capacity on each tray.
3) Low-quality paper
Solution: While low-quality paper may seem like a good idea on the surface, it might end up costing thousands of dollars in printer repairs.
4) Loading the paper incorrectly
Solution: Believe it or not, there is a correct and incorrect method for loading paper into the tray. To put paper into a printer correctly, first extend the paper width guide as far as feasible. Then, fan out the paper to keep it from adhering. Finally, for most machines, load the paper with the correct side up and the small edge facing you.

If none of these methods work for you, follow the instructions on the printer screen to discover the paper jam. Remove any misfed paper, staples, or other objects that may have been entangled between the feeder and the platen. Finally, clean out any dust or debris that may have accumulated in the machine.

2) Printer Errors

When something goes wrong with the printing process, it results in a printer error. This could be due to a hardware problem, a software error, or even a power outage. In certain circumstances, the source of the problem is clear.

3) Paper Feeder Issues

These issues are often associated with paper jams, however it is best to leave the paper feeder repairs to your printer service pros. If you suspect a paper jam, consider removing any papers that may have become stuck inside the feeder. Then, inspect the paper tray to ensure that no sheets are clogged. If none of these options work, contact your local copy facility for help. They might be able to assist you in removing the paper jams.

4) Incorrect Settings

As with most technology, a piece of equipment’s performance quality tends to deteriorate as it matures. If your copier is more than 5 years old and producing regular downtime, it may be time to call a copier provider to discuss your choices.
