Common copier problems and solutions

How often do you experience your copier downtime? You want to print urgent documents but how many hours does the worker take for the service? These are the most common copier problems.

1) Paper Jams

Paper jams are the most common problem faced by all users and the worst part is when they happen at the most unexpected time, causing a lot of frustration.

Paper jams are usually caused by incorrect paper type or thickness, or incorrectly loaded paper. Excessive stacking can also cause paper jams.

You will need to manually remove the jammed paper and override the paper size type and specify the paper alignment. Take care to remove jammed paper slowly to avoid torn pieces of paper getting caught in the copier.

2) Lines on Paper

When lines or other distortions are created even though the paper is in good condition when entering the feeder, this makes you look unprofessional. This can be due to many different causes of these problems.

*This could be caused by foreign substances on the scanner or mirror.
*Fuse problem.
*Defective drum kit or development unit.
*You are not capable of solving the problem on your own. It is advisable to contact a copier repair professional, who will help you identify and repair the problem effectively.

3) Crumpled paper

Crumpled paper will make your important documents look unprofessional. Wrinkled paper is often the result of worn feed and exit rollers resulting in jams and adhesions.

To resolve the problem, you can either replace the heatsink panels or contact a professional for fuser repair. Crumpled paper indicates that your copier is suffering from excessive wear and tear.

If the problem persists and other problems are encountered, it’s time to consider buying or renting a new copier. Upgrading your copier will be a better solution although it can be expensive, remember your investment can be worth it and meet your needs as technology changes rapidly .

4) Irregular print color

Poor print quality, irregular colors or stains may cause discomfort in handling. If the print result is too dark or too light, someone may have accidentally changed the density control on the copier. You can easily reset the density of the copier.

In addition, abnormal print color can be caused by the drum unit being used for a long time or the copier toner being degraded. Therefore, make sure to source toners from trusted sources to avoid density issues.

5) Smudges on page

If you see the same dots in the same place all the time, it could be debris or stains on the mirror. You can easily solve this problem by cleaning the mirror glass. Be sure to follow the instructions for use and recommendations regarding cleaning procedures.

Multiple random points repeated in each document can be error in blank. Replacing the drum should fix the problem.

6) Toner and cartridge problems

Toner and cartridge problems are more likely to occur because they are misconfigured. There is a high probability that the wrong toner cartridge is used because different models have different inks.

Your copier may be malfunctioning, with low ink levels and blanks. Malfunctions are caused by manufacturer defects or compatibility complications. If there is a near-low or low-ink problem, replacing cartridge and cartridge will solve the problem.

If you use incompatible toner cartridges, print quality will be affected.
