It is almost certainly due to the data sent to the printer, not the printer itself, when you print a readable document and find flyspeck-sized type on the paper. These size differences are frequently caused by file and print preferences that you apply to the entire document either before or at the time of printing. When you save the file, some of these overrides and options are included. Check your settings to restore your Lilliput-sized type to its normal dimensions.
Reflow
While altering the document or when you’re ready to print it, some programmes, such as Microsoft Word, reflow your text when you change the specified page size. Your output may appear very small on a larger sheet than you originally intended the document to use, depending on the content of your document, the original page size, and the typographic properties you assigned to your text. Choose type sizes that are compatible with all the media you will need to use if you intend to print a file in a flexible manner at various sheet sizes for various purposes. Utilize the “Scale to Paper” options in Microsoft Office’s printing preferences if you only want to scale the document to a different paper size than the one you used to create it.
Web Pages
Web browsers resize the content of the pages you print to match the paper size you choose unless you alter their default settings. In order to accommodate a broad page on paper that is narrower than the site itself, a browser will render it in a small size. The majority of Web browsers also have scaling options that let you increase or decrease printed output by a certain percentage. You might be surprised to learn that your selections do not transfer from your screen to the printed versions of these pages if you use Web-browser zoom features to increase the size of page content – all of it or just the text, depending on other settings.
PDF Files
When printing, you can scale your output to a specified page size or to a fraction of the document’s real dimensions using applications that let you read and print PDF files. If you need to fit large PDFs onto smaller paper, you can use these settings to scale the entire page, not just the text or the pictures. Make a page-specific selection of the content you’re interested in, and print only that selection, if you want to print a portion of a page at a larger or smaller size.
Other Problems
Many apps provide default options for viewing onscreen and in hard copy. These options allow for file-specific file formatting enlargement or decrease. When you make changes to the settings and save the document, the changes are still in effect when you open the file again. You might be perplexed by the size of your output on paper when you come back to the document at a later time if you forget to use your software’s reset procedure to reset the file to its defaults.
