Setting Default Printer Settings (Windows)

Setting Default Printer Settings (Windows)

STEP 1 – Opening Devices and Printers

Click on the Windows icon (typically in the bottom left corner), then type in “control” without clicking anywhere else; the search box will immediately return various results. Select “Control Panel” from the drop-down menu.

STEP 2 – Choose [Devices and Printers]

To access the devices and printers menu, select “Devices and Printers” from the menu bar. If your screen does not appear as shown below, you can modify its view by changing the top right drop down box from View By ‘Catagory’ to View By ‘Small Icons’.

STEP 3 – Open the Printer Properties

Right-click the Ricoh printer for which you want to change the default properties and select [Printer properties] from the menu.

STEP 4 – Advanced

The Printer Properties will open under the ‘General’ tab; if you select the [Preferences] option at the bottom of this page, you will be able to edit the properties for the printer solely on this computer. If you select the [Advanced] option at the top, you may adjust the settings for this computer as well as any other computers that use the printer as a shared printer.

STEP 5 – Printing Defaults…

Select [Printing Defaults…] at the bottom left of the Advanced tab.

STEP 6 – Choose default settings

You can configure your printer’s default settings using the Printing Defaults… option. In this example, the printer is set to print single-sided in black and white. Once you’ve chosen your settings, click the [Apply] button to apply them, and then click the [OK] button to return to the ‘Advanced’ tab of the ‘Printer Properties’ page.

STEP 7 – Apply the settings

Return to the ‘Advanced’ tab of the ‘Printer Properties’ screen and click the [Apply] button to apply the adjustments before clicking the [OK] button to exit. To finish the process, close the ‘Devices and Printers’ window.
